Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. She released her first EP on the label on October 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she started to gain recognition. Her first album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music to the Internet in 2012 when she launched her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. Ari Lennox continued to upload her tracks online through 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. On July 21 2015 she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole asked her to collaborate with him for Rihanna's references. Later in the calendar, her songs was circulating around Dreamville. It was announced on December 8 that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat was the result of her participation to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October of 2016 she dropped her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and was an opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she was able to be a guest on two songs with her label-mates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018, released her first single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video to accompany it was also released on September 5th. In November, she dropped her singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Then, in November 2013, she released her debut album No One as well as Pedigree. The singer appeared alongside Cole in her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16and later released the song as a solo single on the album she released her debut. This track, which was released with a video on YouTube 20 February 2019 was watched more than 3 million times within the first seven days. The singer was a part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
